Hours after a celebratory parade in his hometown, undisputed boxing champ Terence “Bud” Crawford was pulled over early Sunday by Omaha police and ordered from his vehicle at gunpoint.
Police say the stop happened around 1:30 a.m., when officers perceived the vehicle was being driven recklessly. During the traffic stop, officers spotted a firearm on the driver’s side floorboard and, for safety, ordered all four occupants out of the car at gunpoint.
A video that circulated on social media shows Crawford complying with police commands, with his hands raised, insisting that he was not reaching for a weapon.
Police later confirmed that all occupants of the vehicle, including Crawford and a member of his security team, were legally allowed to carry firearms. Crawford was cited for reckless driving but was not charged.
The incident drew immediate scrutiny. Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer has launched an internal affairs investigation, a move supported by Mayor John Ewing, who emphasized the need for transparency and rebuilding community trust.
