Marcin Szoltysik taps out at the start of his fight with Jacek Kujtowski at Babilon MMA 54.

A heavyweight fighter has spoken out after a truly strange ending to his recent bout — he tapped out in just one second.

The incident occurred at Babilon MMA 54 in Poland, when Marcin Szoltysik submitted to Jacek Kujtowski before a single strike had been thrown. Initially met with confusion and criticism, Szoltysik later broke his silence to explain his reasoning.

In a message on Instagram (as translated via X), Szoltysik said the instant tap-out was a form of “conscious rebellion” against his team. He claimed that they had deliberately undermined his preparation, treating him as if he were replaceable, caring more about money and connections than the sport, passion, or commitment. He also apologized to his opponent and the fans, stating he felt compelled to protest what he sees as manipulation and exploitation.

The promotion, Babilon MMA, responded strongly. They announced that Szoltysik will no longer be offered fights under their organization, condemned the timing of his comments, and said they were encouraging him to obtain professional help. They also stated that Kujtowski would still receive his opponent compensation.
